ABOUT

How it all started...
Quarry Cut Designs is the product of an artistic, rockhound and his craft junkie daughter. By combining art and funk, we've come up with a line of stone pendant necklaces that highlights the natural beauty of our Canadian Shield stone on a fun, bold canvas.
Quarry Cut Designs is the sister company to Madoc Rocks, a handmade stone coaster company. Established in 2002 by Nick Butts (aka Dad), Madoc Rocks has had great success selling coasters all across Canada. We source our stone from Madoc, Ontario which sits on the edge of the Canadian Shield. The diversity of colours and patterns in the rock is what makes our products so unique.
The coasters have been the foundation of a great business over the years, but we've decided it was time to introduce a new product and jewellery felt like a natural fit for us.
Nick & Sam
A father-daughter duo

Looking back on my childhood, I spent a lot of weekends attending Rockhound Gemborees with my dad and sister. You could also find us wading through creeks, exploring nature and examining wildlife. It's no surprise my dad has made a career out of rocks. When it was my turn to pick the activity, we were at the craft store buying spools of gimp followed by a lesson from Nick Butts himself on box stitch weaving. 20 years later and here we are - it's all come together in Quarry Cut Designs. I hope you enjoy wearing our jewellery as much as we enjoy making it!

Lover of crafts and all things bohemian - Frankie Bergstien in training.
With a passion for creating, you'll usually find me tucked away in my craft corner or scouring the internet for a workshop to attend. I'm lucky to have grown up in a family of artists, so inspiration has always surrounded me.

Nick has been running Madoc Rocks, handmade coasters since 2002. His passion for nature and wildlife combined with his artistic eye has served him well in his coaster hustle. He's also a whiz with a paintbrush and snaps beautiful photographs (just not on an iPhone).
